Low Sugar Foods List

Total sugars per 100 g, lowest first. Meats, fish, eggs and oils sit at true zero — the honest answer to 'what has no sugar' — while the lowest-sugar plants cluster just above. %DV uses the FDA 50 g reference for sugars.

Common questions

What counts as low sugar?

There's no FDA 'low sugar' band the way there is for sodium. Foods with 0 g total sugar (meats, fish, eggs, oils, avocado) are the floor; berries and leafy greens lead the plant side. Added-sugar limits (50 g/day) are about what goes in during processing.

Where do these numbers come from?

USDA FoodData Central (SR Legacy and Foundation Foods), synced per food with source entry IDs on each food page. One dataset, one per-100 g basis, per-100 kcal computed here.

Method

Values are USDA FoodData Central per-100 g figures (SR Legacy / Foundation), the same rows behind every food page on this site; per-100 kcal is computed as nutrient ÷ kcal × 100. DV = FDA daily value for adults (50 g for this nutrient, 21 CFR 101.9).
