GLP-1 Fiber Calculator
Constipation is the most-reported GLP-1 side effect, and fiber is the first-line answer — but a slowed gut needs a ramp, not a pile. Your target from age and sex, your current intake in, a step-by-step schedule out.

The ramp · +5 g every 4 days
| Days | Daily fiber |

Each step: one full glass of water alongside. No bowel movement for 3+ days, or pain? That is a clinician conversation, not a bigger serving.
Smallest portions that carry 8 g of fiber
One block is about a third of the target — ranked by grams needed, the GLP-1 shortlist for fiber like the protein one.

Common questions
How much fiber should I get on Ozempic, Wegovy or Mounjaro?
There is no official GLP-1-specific fiber guideline — clinicians apply the general targets: 25 g/day for women under 50 (21 g after), 38 g/day for men under 50 (30 g after), with many GLP-1 advisors simplifying that to 25–35 g/day. Most people arrive closer to 15 g, so almost everyone on a GLP-1 is climbing, not maintaining.
Why ramp up slowly on a GLP-1?
GLP-1 medications slow gastric emptying — the same mechanism behind the constipation. Dumping a big fiber load onto a slower gut produces gas and bloating before it produces relief. The common clinician guidance is roughly +5 g every 3–5 days, each step paired with a full glass of water; this calculator schedules that ramp for you.
Do fiber supplements count?
Yes — count their grams toward the target. Psyllium is mostly soluble fiber, the kind that softens stool and helps GLP-1 constipation. Food first where you can: the portions table shows how little chia, lentils or raspberries it takes to carry a whole 8 g block.
How it's computed
Targets are the IOM adequate intakes by age and sex (25/21 g for women, 38/30 g for men, split at 50) — the same targets as the general fiber calculator; GLP-1 practice commonly quotes them as a 25–35 g band with roughly 60% soluble to 40% insoluble. The ramp steps +5 g every 4 days, the midpoint of the 3–5 day guidance clinicians give for increasing fiber on slowed gastric emptying. Portions solve 8 g ÷ (fiber per 100 g) from the same USDA dataset as every other table here.
