Common questions
How much caffeine is safe during pregnancy?
UK NHS guidance and the cautious reading of ACOG both say keep it under 200 mg per day. Older US advice allowed up to 300 mg; 200 is the number most current guidance defends. The calculator counts your actual drinks against it.
When does the limit matter most?
Caffeine crosses the placenta and the fetus clears it slowly. The first trimester is where most guidance is strictest — and where morning sickness often does the cutting for you.

The 200 mg/day limit is NHS (UK) guidance and matches ACOG's cautious reading (older ACOG text said "less than 200 mg"; some countries still print 300). Drink values are the same per-cup figures this site uses everywhere. Not medical advice — your OB's number wins.
